ABOUT MATT

I am Matt Bunch, and I am running for the House District 51. I bring with me a deep-rooted connection to Oregon. Born in Baker in 1959 and raised in Eastern Oregon, my values and work ethic were shaped by the rugged landscapes and tight-knit communities of the state. I graduated from Burnt River High School in 1977 and continued my education at Oregon State University, earning my degree in 1982. During my time at Oregon State, I was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, learning early on about the importance of leadership and service.

Over the years, I have built a diverse and impressive work history, gaining a wealth of experience in various industries. From Ford Motor Credit, to positions with insurance companies like Allstate, Portland Insurance, Gustafson Insurance, and Clackamas Insurance, I have honed my financial and management skills. I also have a deep commitment to my community and have worked as a Development Officer for the Oregon FFA Foundation and as a bus driver for the Oregon City School District. My dedication to my community is further highlighted by my involvement in organizations like the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus, Canby HS Boosters, Clackamas County Farm Bureau, and the Clackamas County Fair board, where I was elected as Chair in 2022. My deep ties to Clackamas County, my diverse work experience, and my extensive involvement in community organizations make me a well-rounded and dedicated candidate for House District 51.

Outside of my professional life, I find strength in my family. I have been happily married to my wife, Maryjane, for 37 years. We have three children and four grandchildren. Family is a cornerstone of my life, and my dedication to both my family and community reflects my commitment to creating a better future for all residents of House District 51.

Did you catch my article on Fox News?

Recently, Fox News asked me about the shocking increase in the number of students who were identifying as non-binary in Oregon schools. I feel that we have started teaching students what to think instead of how to think. As a father and grandfather, I’ll always show up to protect our kids, support parental rights and prioritize academics in our schools.
